From the Farm: Curiosity Starts Conversations
Why the future of marketing isn't about sending better messages—it's about answering better questions.

Why the future of marketing isn't about sending better messages—it's about answering better questions.
Last weekend, after the rodeo, Chelsea and I had the opportunity to take a picture with one of the performers—a beautiful zebra.
Almost instantly, people began gathering around.
The questions came naturally:
“Is it a real zebra?”
“Can you pet it?”
“How old is it?”
“Where does it travel?”
Nobody needed to be encouraged to ask. Human curiosity did all the work. Every answer sparked another question, and every question deepened the experience.
Standing there, I realized I was watching something I've spent the better part of two decades helping brands understand:
People are naturally wired for conversation.
As consumers, we don't wake up hoping for another promotional email, another SMS offer, or another push notification. What we actually want are answers.
“Can I bring my dog?”
“Which tour is right for my family?”
“Can this integrate with Salesforce?”
“Is it available today?”
Those questions happen during what I call the moment of action—the point where a customer is trying to make a decision. Organizations that answer those questions first earn something far more valuable than a click: they earn trust.
For decades, digital marketing has largely been one-way. Brands broadcast. Customers receive.
“Your order has shipped.”
“Here’s 20% off.”
“Click this link.”
Those messages are useful, but they're announcements—not conversations.
Over the past twenty years, I've had the privilege of helping brands around the world implement conversational messaging strategies. Across industries, I've consistently seen one result: when organizations move from one-way messaging to genuine two-way conversations, conversion rates often improve by 30% or more.
Why? Because conversations remove uncertainty. Every purchase is accompanied by questions. Traditional marketing attempts to overcome uncertainty with more advertising. Conversation overcomes uncertainty with answers. Answers build confidence. Confidence drives action.
That's why I'm so excited about Rich Communication Services (RCS). While many describe RCS as the next generation of SMS, I see it differently. RCS transforms messaging from a notification channel into a trusted, rich, two-way conversation where customers can ask questions, receive personalized answers, view rich media, complete transactions, and stay engaged without leaving the messaging thread.
As conversational experiences mature, the boundaries between marketing, sales, and service begin to disappear. A customer asks a question. Marketing answers. Service joins when needed. AI provides guidance. A recommendation becomes relevant. A purchase happens. The customer simply remembers that the brand was helpful.
Standing beside that zebra reminded me that technology doesn't change human behavior—it simply enables it. Curiosity starts conversations. Conversations build trust. Trust creates action.
At MobileCX Partners, we believe every customer should be able to engage with your brand using the channel that feels most natural in the moment—whether that's RCS, SMS, voice, mobile web, AI assistants, or the next conversational experience. The goal isn't to force customers into a channel. The goal is to meet them where they are, in context, with the answers they need.
We help organizations design, implement, and optimize conversational engagement strategies that transform customer experience across the entire mobile journey—from rich messaging and AI-powered conversations to voice escalation and connected web experiences. Whether you're launching an RCS strategy, modernizing your customer journeys, or building an AI-powered concierge, MobileCX Partners can help you create experiences that answer questions, build trust, and drive measurable business results.
Because the future of customer experience won't be defined by who sends the most messages.
It will be defined by who answers the most important questions.
